Elton ‘Coolie Bully’ Dharry’s contest with Wilmot Hutson will be the main attraction on the Guyana Boxing Board of Control (GBBC), in collaboration with the Guyana Amateur Boxing Association (GABA) and the Ministry of Culture Youth and Sport second Pro/Am boxing card fixed for Friday at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.
According to Dharry’s Manager, promoter Seon Bristol, his fighter is ready and rearing for the contest. Speaking with Kaieteur Sport from the US via telephone, Bristol stated that Dharry is in good health and strength and on top of his game. He alluded that the fighter will be here to do serious damage and Hutson will have his work cut out.
Bristol informed that they did not know much about Hutson, but has stressed to Dharry that their game plan is to go out and stamp his authority on his opponent from the get go.
He stated that there will be no feeling out process.
Bristol noted that he has been able to secure several upcoming events for Dharry and he is scheduled to return to the ring on the May 2 undercard of the Shondell Alfred/Corrine DeGroot rematch. He is also to fight in the United States also in the coming months.
The Boxing Promoter also informed that in regard to the events offered, he will sit with Dharry and decide based on importance with regard to the continued development of his career.
Dharry is trained by Guyanese Dillon Carew, who also trains Wayne ‘Big Truck’ Braithwaite, who is scheduled to fight this coming weekend. Carew will not be in Dharry’s corner as he had hoped, but will rather be guiding Braithwaite as he seeks to return to the top of the Cruiserweight division.
Meanwhile, the professional segment also includes Mandessa Moses against Ali Marques in a catchweight encounter. Shawn Pyle opposes Paul Lewis (jnr) in the junior welterweight department while middleweights Troy Lewis and Eversley Browne battle for honours. All bouts are four rounders.
The amateur segment, which will precede the pro segment, will see in the U-15 category, Donald Trapp (Timerhi Warriors) is up against Richard Williamson of the Pocket Rocket Boxing Gym (PRBG). Female featherweights Theresa London (FYF) and Amanda Norville (HE) will square off while Mervyn Ageday (FYF) and Stephon Gouveia will collide and Devon Boatswain (GDF) clash with Delroy James (REP).
Fans are encouraged to come out and support the joint promotion.
