Mar 18, 2010 Letters
Dear Editor,
I have seen the campaign to be the PPP’s presidential candidate has started.
The Kaieteur News (March 10, 2010), has two letters promoting Moses Nagamootoo and Ralph Ramkarran.
While both of these men have been in the party for many years, they are not known to have made great sacrifice. Mr. Nagamootoo got the ministerial job he left, not to serve the PPP, but to promote his own narrow interest; obviously believed that being a lawyer would enhance his chances to be president.
It should be noted that he departed when the party needed him most.
Mr. Ramkarran also served the party and fought many cases for the PPP. However, he never put his high earnings at risk to take up a full time party job.
For some years now these two men have not been publicly criticising the PNC and defending the PPP and the government.
The only people in the PPP that stands in the front line in defending the party from the PNC/AFC and other forms of attacks are President Jagdeo, Roger Luncheon and Donald Ramotar. In bitter times those were the main defenders of the party.
Others like Odinga Lumumba, Gail Teixeira and Bheri Ramsarran also did a fine job but not Nagamootoo and Ramkarran.
Since these two men have ambitions in becoming the next president of Guyana, then as Guyanese we must know their real agenda and expose their half-hearted commitment to PPP and the Government.
