In latest play of the 2009 Carib Beer sponsored East Demerara Football Association (EDFA) division-one league, Ann’s Grove recorded the latest upset with a 2-1 win over BV Triumph United to ease into the joint lead with BV and Bakewell Buxton Stars.
In the opening game at the BV ground on Sunday last, Victoria Kings blanked Ogle 2-0, their 5th loss in as many games to date.
Ann’s Grove cantered into the lead against BV in the 6th minute via a Stanford Selwin goal to which Sean Daniels of BV responded in like manner in the 22nd minute. The first half ended with the scores unchanged. The sealer came in the 66th minute through Kelon Loncke, effectively sealing the game and full points for Ann’s Grove.
Victoria Kings overcame Ogle but had to wait until the second half to crack their defence. Clayton Wilson in the 52nd and Ryan David four minutes later were the players on target for the Kings who now move to 8 points from 4 matches.
Ann’s Grove and Buxton Stars have garnered their 9 points from 6 matches each, one more than BV. Mahaica are also on 8 points but from 5 matches while Golden Grove has accumulated their 6 points from 5 matches.
