Sharon Dover, 42, of 185 Middle Road, La Penitence, yesterday appeared before Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
It was alleged that the mother of two, on March 11, last, at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport had in her possession one gram of cocaine. She pleaded not guilty and was represented by attorney at law Patrice Henry.
The lawyer in his bail application told the court that his client’s suitcase was in contact with several other persons other than Dover.
He said that the quantum of the drugs is still to be determined by the police.
Special Prosecutor for Customs Anti Narcotics Unit, Oswald Massiah objected to bail. The prosecutor stated that information which was extracted from the defendant suggest that she had knowledge about the drugs. He also asked the court for one week so that the weight could be verified.
Bail was denied and Dover is expected to make another court appearance on Monday.
