Police are trying to locate two prisoners who escaped yesterday afternoon from the Lusignan Prisons after they were allegedly left unattended by Prison Officers.
The inmates were reportedly outside the confines of the prison walls grazing cows when they slipped away.
While officials of the Guyana Prison Service remained tightlipped, police sources have given their names as Samuel Singh, 34, from Sea Defence, Grove, East Bank Demerara and Imran Ali, 25, of Lot 72 Cove and John East Coast Demerara.
Singh was serving a two year sentence for break and enter and larceny while Ali was on a 12 month sentence for simple larceny.
Upon receipt of information about the escape, police ranks with assistance from the prison service combed several areas on the East Coast of Demerara but came up empty handed.
The men were still at large up to late yesterday evening.
