Trial match set for DCC today
The Georgetown Cricket Selectors have reduced the GCA under-19 training squad to 32 players after a match simulation session at the Malteenoes ground yesterday.
The GCA is preparing for the Demerara Cricket Board Inter-Association 50-overs under-19 competition which will be used to select the Demerara side for this month’s GTM under-19 Inter-County tournament.
The city players were involved in an all-day session yesterday with two batsmen being asked to bat together for 8 overs to score at least 25 runs. The fast bowlers were asked to bowl 4 overs while the spinners were required to bowl six.
The Mark Harper led selection panel is expected to further reduce to squad after trials matches today and tomorrow at DCC. The players selected for today’s match are asked to be present at the ground from 08:45hrs for the game which is scheduled to commence at 09:30hrs. The players also had the opportunity to watch the West Indies beat Zimbabwe on Television yesterday to win the 5-match series with the final game to be played tomorrow in St Vincent.
National under-19 pacer Seon Daniels and Andre Stoll head the list of those invited to today’s match and the squad includes several players with national under-15 and under-17 experience.
