Essequibo skipper Ricardo Adams hit an attractive 95 but Berbice still managed to overcame the host by 3 wickets as play in the Castrol U-15 50 overs cricket competition continued yesterday at Anna Regina in Essequibo.
Essequibo won the toss and elected to bat first and scored a respectable 179-7 off their allotted overs. Adams who plays for Zeelandia SC in Wakenaam hit two fours and five sixes in his innings and shared in a 7th wicket partnership of 64 with Dexter Williams who made an unbeaten 27.
Sean Perriera picked up 2-31 off 10 overs, while there was a wicket each for Niall Smith, Romario DeJonge and Parmanand Narine.
Berbice in reply suffered a few hiccups before they eventually won the battle in 48.5 overs ending on 180-7. DeJonge was their leading run getter with 37 while Quacy McPherson supported with 34, Perriera 32 and Parmanand Narine 19.
Raj Parbattie was the pick of the bowlers for the home team with 2-19. Herry Green, Adams and Hassan Mohamed also picked up one wicket each.
