Rivalry in the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) Super League competition will resume this weekend after taking a break last weekend to facilitate the women’s World Cup qualifying tournament which saw the Lady Jags defeating Suriname and St. Vincent & the Grenadines.
Five (5) games will be played at venues around Guyana. At the Uitvlugt Community Centre Ground, West Coast Demerara from 16:00hrs, home team Seawall FC will entertain Upper Demerara’s Milerock in a game which is expected to be keen with both teams going after their first points of the League having lost their respective opening games on February 28.
Seawall lost 0-1 in a close tussle against defending champions Alpha United while Milerock were upstaged at home by Buxton United.
Seawall smarting from the loss of its top goal scorer Clement Brown and defender Darius Garraway to the Guyana Defense Force will be depending on the likes of Delyon Josiah, Toine Lopes, Garlon Lewis, Zevon Atkinson, Keith Blackman and Adami Hoyte to guide them to victory.
Milerock who have strengthened up their squad will be depending on Gerald Whittington back in Linden after representing Pele for two seasons, Marlon Maxius, Randy Small, Alester Johnson, Derrol Dainty and Randy Jerome to lift them out of the cellular position.
Up at Bartica kicking off also at 16:00 hrs, Bakewell Topp XX will throw down the gauntlet to home town boys Liquid Gold. Topp XX will attempt to maintain their winning ways but Liquid Gold will have other ideas, playing at home is always advantageous the home team will seek to capitalise on home advantage along with crowd support.
Topp XX will have in their lineup, Michael Crandon, Troy Nelson, Charles Rose, Quacy Johnson, Trevor Waterton and Keron Cameron. Liquid Gold’s challenge will be spearheaded by Whitney Welcome, Vernon John, Kurt Welcome, Dwayne Duke, Rondel Washington and Hamley Martindale.
On the East Coast of Demerara at the Enmore Community Centre Ground, the boys from the East will have their plate filled when they come up against the City Giants in a double header.
In game one which commences at 14:00 hrs, Victoria Kings will match skills with Alpha United with the feature clash between Buxton United and Sunburst Camptown from 16:00hrs.
Alpha who are preparing for the CFU Champions League will be in a raging mood while the Kings will have to be very royal to stave off the attack of the Alpha players comprising of Howard Lowe, Dwight Peters, Edison Gomes, Dwayne Jacobs, Philbert Moffatt, Quincy Madramottoo and Ronson Williams in goal.
Victoria Kings will have in their lineup, Rashleigh Morrison, Clayton Wilson, Rolston Morrison, Kwesi De Souza, Winston Pompey, Pierre Joseph and Aubrey Gibson.
Buxton United and Sunburst Camptown were victorious in their respective first round matches and will be aiming to maintain that form.
Buxton will be depending on Clive Andries, Les Charles Critchlow, Keoma Sullivan, Travis, Michael and Jamal Phyll while Camptown will look to Nigel Codrington, Orlando Gilgeous, Troy Prescod, Lance Rolston, Sherwin Cadogan and Richie Richards to maintain their unbeaten run.
In the final game at the GFC Ground commencing at 18:00 hrs, GDF will be attempting to hold off Rosignol United who lost their opening game to Camptown in a close encounter.
GDF, also preparing for the CFU Champions League will lean on the likes of Stellon David, Delroy Deen, Eusi Phillips, Marlon Benjamin, Clement Brown, Darrius Garraway, Shavane Seaforth and Warren Gilkes to secure victory for them while the charge for the boys from the east, Rosignol United, will be led by Garson Baker, Olvis Mitchell, Delwin Fraser, Roncy Caleb, Tyson Carmichael and Sherwin Lewis.
Prior to this game at the GFC clash, the GFF Under-17 Inter Association competition will kick off with a clash between Berbice and East Bank from 16:00hrs.
