Some 241 Germans will be leaving Guyana later today after experiencing a small sample of what Guyana has to offer.
Yesterday afternoon, an international Cruise Liner, the ‘Vista Mar’ arrived and docked at the GNIC wharf.
The visit was made possible by Dagron Tours which in recent times has been able to secure some major cruise lines from around the world to dock in Guyana.
Upon the arrival of the ‘Vista Mar’, Tourism Minister Manniram Prashad along with several members of the media were given a tour of the vessel which has the capacity to carry 300 passengers along with a crew of one hundred.
Minister Prashad welcomed the crew and told media operatives that the arrival of the cruise is further evidence that the tourism sector is growing.
Many of the tourists who spoke with this newspaper said that this is their first time to the Caribbean.
During their brief sojourn some of the tourists will be given an opportunity to tour some of Guyana’s notable landmarks, including Kaieteur Falls.
The ship started its journey earlier this year and has already stopped in Antigua and Brazil. The cruise liner is expected to go to Tobago and then over to Europe.
