Yet another person has been caught trying to smuggle cocaine out of Guyana.
At 14:00 hours yesterday, a female United States citizen was nabbed while boarding Caribbean Airlines Flight 424, destined for the US. The woman was seen acting in a suspicious manner and her luggage was searched.
Customs Anti Narcotics Unit ranks found what they suspected to be cocaine concealed in the lining of the woman suitcase.
The substance was subsequently tested by an analyst and it was reportedly found to be cocaine.
This newspaper was told that the cocaine weighed between 8 to 12 kilograms.
Investigations are ongoing as the woman remains in police custody.
Charges are likely shortly.
