Dexter George 19 and Chandreka Persaud 15 were the next best scorers and Demerara reached 198-9 when their overs expired.
Hassan Mohamed was the pick of the home team bowlers with arm spinner Herry Green taking 2-24 from 9 overs and Hemant Kowshaldeo 2-34 from 7. Skipper Ricardo Adams and Moin Khan also took one wicket each.
