GTI Lawns is the venue
Rookie Bodybuilders will set the Government Technical Institute (GTI) Lawns in New Amsterdam alight when they clash on April 4 in the Guyana Amateur Bodybuilding & Fitness Federation (GABBFF) Novices Championship.
This will be the first competition under the new Executive Committee led by Fiona Harris, the first female to ever lead the body in its approximately 37 year history.
According to a Federation release, Novices will kick start their programme of activities and events for the current year and they are seeking the involvement of all interested persons to achieve their goals. Further, it is the intention of the Body that every interested person should be afforded the opportunity to participate in and benefit from the various programmes as they become available.
Only first timers will be allowed to compete or persons who have participated before but did not place in the top 3.
Athletes will be competing in four categories. Men’s Physique (Under 143 pounds (Bantamweight); 144 – 154 pounds (Lightweight); 155 – 165 pounds (Welterweight); 166 – 176 pounds (Light-Middleweight) and 177 pounds and over (Heavyweight).
Men’s Fitness which is open to all the competitors, Women’s Fitness (open to all) and Body Fitness which will also be done on an open basis.
Last year’s overall male winner was Alfred Jordon of the Guyana Defence Force while Justine Lee was the top female when the competition took place at the Theatre Guild, Kingston.
Kaieteur Sport understands that both winners will be guest posing at this year’s Novices.
