Lovers of cycle racing living in Berbice are in for a treat when the Flying Ace Cycle Club of that county stages the Aqua Mist 40-mile cycle road race, scheduled to get underway on Sunday March 14. The event has been sponsored by Banks DIH New Amsterdam Branch.
Only riders of region 5 and 6 are eligible for participation and already some of the country’s top riders are from that region have signaled their intention to participate.
The event starts in front of the Banks DIH office in New Amsterdam, proceeds to Taki Gas Station, Adventure and back to the point of origin.
There would also be a BMX cycle race which pedals off shortly after the senior cyclists are sent on their way. Cyclists in this group also start off at the Banks DIH office but the race culminates at Main and New Streets.
The first six finishers in the senior race and the first five in the BMX category would receive prizes. Eight sprint prizes would also be up for grabs. Race time is 08:00hrs sharp.
Recently Banks DIH presented their sponsorship cheque for the event to Flying Ace Coach Randolph Roberts.
