Akeem ‘The Dream’ Kanhai will lead Amelia’s Ward Jets against Retrieve Raiders tonight when the two top teams meet in the Linden Amateur Basketball Association (LABA) Under-19 Final at the Mackenzie Sports Club court.
Like Kanhai, Jeffrey LaRose is expected to marshal Raiders in the battle of the leading juniors in the Mining Town. The duo will receive adequate help with Kanhai to get more support than Larose in the title game.
Kanhai will get his support from Parish Cadogan and Marlon Persaud while support for Larose, who is the main offensive player for Raiders, will come largely from Yannick Primo. Kanhai has more options than LaRose.
The third place game is expected to start at 7pm when Victory Valley Royals takes on Block 22 Flames.
The Final will immediately follow with Kanhai vying for the only title he has not won in the strong basketball community.
