The Central Executive Committee of the Guyana Legion was returned unopposed at the body’s Annual General Meeting on Sunday.
With the exception of the new Assistant Secretary, who is now Ms Shirley Talbot, the enthusiastic nominations and voting by the membership indicated the confidence vested in the officers who served the body for the past year.
This was pronouncedly evident when the time came for the nomination of names for President. Carl B. Morgan’s name was the first nominated and almost before the nomination was seconded, there was a strident demand for the nominations to be closed.
This was met with a roar of approval from the membership present, which included members from Georgetown, Linden and Berbice.
The Executive members for 2010 are Col. Carl B. Morgan – President; Vice Presidents Duncan Stewart, Edward Cedreno and Edgar Washington; Treasurer David Abrams.
Asst. Secretary: Shirley Talbot; Committee Members Elson Witter, Inez Johnson, Ivan Ramlochan, and Fitzalbert Talbot
The positions of General Secretary and Administrative Assistant were not open to voting in keeping with the rules of the organization. These two posts are held by Mr. Kingsley Nelson and Ms. Luna Chung respectively.
At the Berbice Branch of the Legion, the sudden resignation of the current Chairman has resulted in Mr. John Gordon stepping forward to offer his services. Mr. Gordon is to be appointed to the position by President Col. Morgan.
Vice President Edward Cedreno is currently serving as Chairman of the Linden Branch. Elections for this branch will be held on the fourth Sunday of this month.
