National quarter-miler, Aliann Pompey reportedly set a new national 400m record Friday night at a meet.
Details of her performance are sketchy but Kaieteur Sport understands that the athlete ran 51.83 seconds for the new mark.
Pompey’s previous national 400m record was set at 51.85 seconds at the New Balance Games last year where she erased the 52.17 seconds she had done in 2003. The New York-based Pompey’s 51.83 was also her personal best time.
The time also reportedly places the athlete fourth in the world this season. “I’m so excited right now,” she briefly said yesterday.
Pompey promised this newspaper a full report and release on her performance at a later date.
