A 25-year-old mother of three was yesterday placed on $100,000 bail by Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson.
Ruby French is accused of receiving one tape deck, one motor car indicator light and other items, a total value of $92,000 from Julius James on February 20.
The charge further read that French knew the items were stolen or unlawfully obtained.
All the items which were mentioned in the charge belonged to Alva Campbell.
French was represented by attorney at law Sasha Roberts in association with Adrian Thompson.
The lawyer in her bail application said that French has three minor children who solely depend on her.
Roberts further told the court that her client has no previous convictions and that she would vigorously defend her cause.
The lawyer noted that French had been in custody since Sunday, further noting that she was not at home when the police conducted the search.
Police Prosecutor Steven Telford did not object to bail but told the court that it should be substantial. The prosecutor said that the items were found under French’s bed.
Telford told the court that the woman had admitted to the police that she was “keeping the items safe”.
The prosecutor admitted that French was not at home when the search was conducted.
He explained that the articles which were found were from a car that was hijacked last week.
Telford said that the father of French’s children is also wanted by the police in connection with the robbery.
Three persons were charged last week in connection with that robbery. Two were remanded while another was placed on bail.
French was granted $100,000 bail and is expected to make another court appearance on March 19.
