Police have apprehended two men in connection with Monday night’s robbery of a Mainstay, Essequibo family.
One of the men, 19-year-old Munesh Ramsaroop of Columbia Village, Essequibo Coast, was held in the Cinderella County, and it was he who implicated his accomplice Bonnie Meggins aka ‘Barnie’ who was apprehended in Georgetown last Tuesday.
But there are reports that Meggins denied being involved in the recent robbery when questioned by detectives from Essequibo.
Ramsaroop also squealed on another accomplice whom he claims is residing at Dartmouth, Essequibo Coast. However he has not yet been arrested. Police have also recovered a cell phone which they believe was stolen during the robbery.
On Monday night last, the Seecharran family of Mainstay Village was attacked and robbed by five armed bandits who invaded their double flat home.
During the ordeal, 32-year-old Vashishtha Seecharran was shot in the right shoulder when he tried to assist his father who was being beaten by the bandits.
He is still a patient at the Suddie Public Hospital, where his condition is listed as stable.
Along with cash, the bandits escaped with a purse containing Mr. Seecharran’s driver’s license, identification card and some revenue stamps.
The businessman related that he had been robbed several times of petty things but emphasized that this robbery has shocked him.
Both Ramsaroop and Meggins are expected to appear in court today.
A police source however told Kaieteur News that other charges are still likely to be implemented against the teen at a later stage.
