A St. Vincent-born United States citizen is currently in police custody after she was found with seven kilograms of cocaine at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport yesterday morning.
The woman who has since been identified as Anesha Joseph, was caught around 08:20 hours by ranks of the Police Narcotic Branch.
This newspaper was told that the woman was about to board a Delta flight, which was destined for the United States. Police Narcotic Ranks reportedly searched the woman’s two suitcases and the cocaine was found concealed in folders, packets of soymilk and in books.
She was immediately taken into custody and investigations are ongoing. Charges are likely soon.
Only last Monday, two Jamaica-born British nationals were nabbed at the CJIA with one kilogram each of cocaine concealed in wigs.
The two women and a local hairdresser have since been charged and remanded in connection with the cocaine.
