KENYAN-BORN former Danish middle-distance runner Wilson Kipketer will be a special attendee at this year’s Gibson Relays at the National Stadium and will be the speaker in the ‘Technical Corner’ at the GC Foster College today at 7:00pm.
Kipketer won successive gold medals in the 800m at the World Championships in Gothenburg 1995, Athens 1997, and Seville 1999. He was a silver medallist in the event at the 2000 Sydney Olympics and claimed bronze in Athens four years later.
The Technical Corner is this year specially geared towards local middle-distance athletics coaches as the Jamaica Amateur Athletics Association (JAAA) continues its push towards improving the field locally.
Meanwhile, tickets for the Gibson Relays go on sale this morning at the National Stadium’s ticket office at 8 o’clock. Tickets will only be available at the Stadium ticket office for Saturday’s meet.
