A 46-year-old Palmyra, East Canje man was yesterday discovered dead in his house, hours after his estranged wife winged out of the country for Curacao.
Dead is Motilall Mangal, a seaman and hire car driver, of lot 23 Palmyra, East Canje, Berbice. The man reportedly drank half-litre of what is believed to be Gramoxone.
His wife who winged out of Guyana, yesterday, is being blamed. Neighbours are saying that the woman cleaned out the man’s home.
Police discovered Mangal’s naked body on a mattress in the dining room of his home yesterday.
The police had responded to a call at about 10:10hrs yesterday from a probation officer who encouraged them to check the house as he had suspected that something suspicious was unfolding.
When the ranks arrived at the two- storey building they went in and found a nude male lying on a mattress in his living room. They also noticed a greenish substance on the mattress and on the floor. They subsequently found a one litre bottle containing a green substance.
Several items were also strewn about the house. Reports are that the man recently moved from his matrimonial home that he shared with his wife at Fort Ordnance, Berbice.
Residents reported that he was having domestic problems with his wife. A note was found on the wall that blamed his wife for his death and added that the woman had taken all of his belongings and left. The note also stated that he is in debt and that he also has several police traffic matters.
This publication understands that the man was supposed to be sentenced this weekend and that his wife reportedly sold most of their property and winged out to Curacao yesterday morning.
