Feb 23, 2010 Letters
Dear Editor,
I am a “proud” past student of Queen’s College, however, the unjust treatment of certain students by those who control the school is utterly preposterous and therefore I felt the need to write.
The students of the Caribbean Studies Class along with their teacher have painstakingly sought to raise funds to make their class trip to Trinidad and Tobago, a reality. But of course, their efforts were in vain, as they were undermined by the malicious and deceitful efforts of certain members of the senior staff, who poisoned the Board of Governors against the valiant efforts of the students for this noble cause.
It is with great disappointment that I pen this letter, to highlight the corruption that has long plagued this “prestigious” college. How can we move forward, if we deny our students learning opportunities such as these?
The money needed for the trip has long since been raised; showing just how determined the class was, with the hard target of raising two million dollars in just over two weeks in order to leave for Trinidad on the 22nd of February 2010.
As a concerned person, I plead with the relevant authorities within and beyond the QC Administration to see to it that this educational trip becomes a reality and further, that such handling of these student matters be done in a professional manner and not based upon personal vendetta.
For the image of Queen’s College to remain high, certain operations must be stopped and certain persons in power must be censored.
I do hope that something will be done, and as soon as possible.
Concerned Ex-Student
