It seems that Guyanese Soca lovers can’t get enough of international Soca sensation, Machel Montano, since his arrival on the local shores and tonight they will have all of him musically along with his HD band.
Today, the Soca sensation will be enjoying the Mash Day festivities for the first time before exploding on the stage of the Georgetown Cricket Club Ground.
Fresh out of the Beyonce concert where he showcased Caribbean Soca at its best in Trinidad, the artiste since touching down has created frenzy wherever he went.
Giving and receiving crazy love galore locally, Machel is here for the Hits and Jams second annual Mash night concert titled ‘Machel for Mash’.
He is promising a new performance that will include new songs from a new album and of course the many favourites that make him the unique international soca sensation that he is.
Since his arrival, Machel was seen visiting several locations and appearing on 98.1 FM, he also appeared at a special press conference on HJ TV 72 hours after arrival where he shared his experience of performing for the Beyonce concert.
He told reporters that it was one of the defining experiences of his career thus far, as he continues on his singing and acting career path. He also told reporters that he recently completed collaborations with international main stream artistes Janet Jackson and Pit Bull and shared future plans for his career.
The other acts from his HD band including Patrice Roberts, Zan and Farmer Nappy were scheduled to arrive in Guyana yesterday.
But it was not all just talk for the artiste who is here to experience his first Mashramani. He said he missed Carnival 2010 this year in his home land because of other commitments but was more than honoured to be part of Guyana’s Mashramani observance. Montano also visited and socialised at Club Pulse for two events including last nights Hits and Jams all white party.
Montano who also enjoyed a Guyanese night of entertainment and bar hopping also attended the CARIB Soca Monarch competition where he created quite a storm when he was announced to come on stage briefly.
But even that short stint to promote today’s concert was enough to create a mega hype that says “Machel has a major Guyanese fan base.”
