Entries for the Kennard’s Memorial Turf Club Phagwah race meet at its Bush Lot Farm Corentyne headquarters, on Sunday March 7 will close next Saturday, February 27.
The nation’s top horses, as well as those bred in overseas stables are scheduled to be on show based on the interest expressed by the various stables. Among those expected are the Message, Annie’s Playmate, Sweet Carmel and Jumbo Joy.
Several sponsors have also lent their support to date; among them Digicel, DDL, Guyana Furniture Manufacturing Company, Mohammed’s Enterprise and Goodwood Racing Service.
Six races will be staged with the C class one mile event the main attraction with the winner carting off $400,000. The 6 furlong F and lower race is also another key contest with $220,000 for the winner. Other races cater for G class, I and Lower, I3 and lower, and K&L (Div 2 & 3) horses.
Jockeys are reminded that all races are being run under-the rules of the Guyana Horse Racing Authority and in the event that there are less than five (5) horses entered for any event the club reserves the right to cancel or reframe the said event.
A fee of at least $3,000 would be charged per horse at the time of entry. If this fee is not paid the organizers reserve the right to delete the race from its official programme. Owners of horses are reminded to present their horses for examination at the vet not later than 11:00 hrs on race day. Entries dose on Saturday February 27. No late entries will be accepted.
Horse owners are also reminded to register their animals with the Guyana Horse Racing Authority or alternatively, if the horses names do not appear on the classification list, owners have an option of registering their horses with Dr. Dwight Waldron on telephone #s 645-2848, 625-0100 or 220-6557.
