Corentyne Comprehensive Secondary School (CCSC) recorded two wins in the National secondary Schools female Under-15 cricket competition which bowled off this week in the Ancient County of Berbice. Playing at the Area ‘H’ ground, CCSC hammered Manchester Secondary by 97 runs then took care of Port Mourant Secondary by 21 runs.
Batting first against Manchester, CCSC rattled up a challenging 218-5 off their allotted 30 overs with Taneisah Cort, batting at No. 3 leading with 67 decorated with 11 fours. Extras top scored with a whopping 109.
Kimone Thomas and Christine Quintin each took 2-38 for Manchester who were sent packing for 121, extras again leading with 64. Ahodia Benn was the best batter with 18. Sheriann Fraser and Christine Quintin contributed 10 apiece.
Doing the damage with the ball for CCSC were off spinner Plaflanna Millington 4-13 and Mellisa Durant 3-17.
In the second game against Port Mourant, CCSC took to the crease first after winning the toss and were bowled out for 106 off 27.2 overs. Extras led all batters with 60. Cort was again among the runs with 21 (3 fours), Indra Ramkellowan contributed 11.
Spinning webs around the CCSC batters was left arm spinner Dian Prashad with the enviable figures of 7-18, Shemaine Crandon backed up with 2-0.
In response, Port Mourant were dismissed for 85. Extras contributed 53 the only score of significance. Melissa Durant grabbed 6-28 and Plaflanna Millington 3-10 to snap up victory for CCSC.
