Three teenagers Keron Jaikarran, Reshan Singh and Naresh Alphonso, who were jointly charged with rape in 2008, had that charge dismissed for want of prosecution, yesterday, after another application to discharge the matter against them was again raised by their attorney Mr. Dindyal.
In his submission, Mr. Dindyal asked Magistrate Faith Mc Gusty to withdraw the case against the trio.
He further noted that since the trio was charged in 2008, the complainant exhibited her reluctance to attend court.
Magistrate Mc Gusty sustained the argument. She agreed that enough time was wasted on the matter that was already before her.
The Magistrate also noted that on several occasions she had keenly observed the virtual complaint at the Anna Regina Car park hurling obscenities at the police. On another occasion the police had to warn her to attend court.
According to a police report the three allegedly raped a mentally challenged woman on January 15, 2008, at Richmond Housing Scheme.
