Edge Full out Image 2-1 in final
Reach for Greatness survived a late surge by Full out Image to win the Guinness sponsored one-day street football competition held at Post Office Street, Beterverwagting, East Coast Demerara last weekend.
A first half double from Reon Hopkinson set the platform for Reach for Greatness victory which saw them claiming the first prize of $70,000, the losers pocketing $30,000. Kevin Trotman pulled one back for Full out Image.
The large and appreciative crowd were treated to an exciting final which crowned a day of equally high octane rivalry in the 12 team knock-out competition, organised by DJ Breeze of King Scorpion Sounds and Fitzroy Weever. Taking the 3rd place was Late Arrival and will receive one Guinness hamper for their efforts.
The other teams that participated were Club Youths, Young Warriors, Power, North ‘C’, 1759 Cali, Marijuana, De Boss, Seekers and Gaza Strip.
Guinness Manager at Banks DIH Limited, Lee Baptiste disclosed that they will be running off a number of one-day competitions around Guyana leading up to the 2nd Guinness Greatest of De Street football competition which is projected to kick off sometime in April.
Baptiste said that the next one-day competition is set for No. 5 Village West Coast Berbice on Saturday.
