…calls comments by Ramkarran his opinion
The People’s Progress Party, yesterday, in a statement issued by its General Secretary, Donald Ramotar, has cleared the air on the recent comments made by one of its stalwart members, Ralph Ramkarran, on overseas votes.
The party statement also took cognizance of the fact that some opposition forces have jumped at the opportunity to attack the PPP and the Government, “Inputting all kinds of ill intentions.”
According to the party’s statement, the attention received by the article which was originally published in the Mirror and The Guyana Chronicle, according to Ramotar is, “an opinion of the author who was not expressing the views of the party. He himself has made that clear.”
It was pointed out that the issue was not discussed by the PPP “The matter was not raised at any forum…the PPP has therefore taken no decision on this issue.”
Ramkarran in his article called for the restoration of the overseas vote but this notion has been harshly rejected by the Opposition parties.
