Dear Editor,
I am always amazed by the utterances of Mr. Hamilton Green. Imagine Mr. Green attempting to upbraid the President about travelling overseas. Who could be more excessive that this new convert to a moral and spiritual revival?
Perhaps, he should be reminded that he was labeled a frequent flyer, by the late journalist Cecil Griffith. Even in an impoverished City Council Mr. Green found the money, not to build roads and fix drains but to fly hither, thither and yond.
No one will ever know how much was spent on his jaunts around the world. There is a word for such politicians – hypocrite. Obviously he will say that he did not fly on council’s money. He is not held accountable by property owners so he does what he wants without any fear of being called to account to anyone. This is the reason why he could indulge in government bashing while he does whatever he very well pleased.
What we do know is that those joy rides brought nothing tangible to the city. For all the travelling he did the city is poorer.
Green talks about giving others a chance to represent Guyana. He must say how many councillors were given the opportunity to represent the city where he could have stayed at home and attempt to fix this broken city. Once the ugly state of Georgetown becomes a topic Green begins to play his mantra on government starving the council of funds. He has become unbelievable.
What is laughable about all of this is that here is a man who continues to bash the government whenever he sees an opening. He does this apparently unaware that his transgression are ever before this nation.
