Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson yesterday granted $100,000 bail each, to four men who are accused of stealing $5.58M in machinery from Winston Thomas.
Brian Mohan, 41, of 21 Hill Street; Troy Grandison, 43, of West Ruimveldt; Shawn Luther, 43, of 23 Hill Street; and Clyde Crawford, 51, of 3434 North Ruimveldt Park are all accused of breaking and entering the bond of Winston Thomas and stealing a quantity of machinery valuing some $5.58M.
They pleaded not guilty to the charge and were unrepresented in court yesterday.
According to Crawford, the police arrested a number of persons in connection with the break and enter, but they only charged them because they were known to the police.
“Is only because de police know we mek they charge we. They know is who steal these things and they just framing we,” the man told the magistrate.
However, Police Prosecutor Stephen Telford told the court that the defendants were caught removing some of the articles from the bond.
The prosecutor explained that between 20:00hrs and 23:00hrs the defendants broke into the bond and stole the items.
He said that they used a pull cart to remove the articles.
They are expected to make another court appearance on February 24.
