Dr. Faith Harding of the Central Executive of the People’s National Congress Reform yesterday announced that Party Leader Robert Corbin has extracted from the List of Candidates, Dawn Hastings, to fill the vacancy in the National Assembly of the Parliament of Guyana created by the resignation of Anthony Vieira.
It was confirmed that Ms. Hastings will not replace Vieira as Shadow Agriculture Minister.
Hastings, who hails from the Akawaio Village of Kako, Upper Mazaruni, is a trained teacher and also holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Education Administration from the University of Guyana.
She has been a teacher for several years in the Upper Mazaruni area with her present substantive position being that of Headmistress of the Jawalla Primary School.
She is also acting as the District Education Officer of the Kamarang sub-Region of Region Seven, Cuyuni/Mazaruni.
Dr Harding told media operatives that Ms. Hastings, who is fluent in speaking and writing the Akawaio language, would bring to the National Assembly a wealth of experience from her service to the indigenous people of Guyana in the area of education and social welfare.
