$600,000 on offer for winner of main event
The 2010 horseracing season is truly on the way with the horseracing bandwagon moving to the West Coast of Berbice with the Rising Sun Turf club of Arima Park West Coast Berbice staging its one day Pre-Mashramani horserace meet on Sunday February 21.
Seven races have been carded on the day’s programme with over $2.5M in cash and other incentives being up for grabs.
The feature C class event over 1600m is once again the main draw card on the days programme with a whopping sum of over $1.2M in cash and trophies on offer with the first prize being $600,000.
The three year old open gallop over 1300m for horses Bred and Born in Guyana and the West Indies is another feature event on the days programme. The winning prize has been tagged at $250,000.
The F Class event has a winning money of $150,000 and will see the horses also going over 1300m. The G and lower showdown will be run over 1100m with a first prize of $120,000.
The ‘I’ and lower event will see the winner carting off $100,000 and will also be contested over 1100m. The division 1&2 horses will compete for a purse of $90,000 over a 1300m distance.
The other event on the days programme is for division3 horses which will be run over 1100m and will see the winner receiving $80,000.
The nations’ largest horseracing sponsor, Beverage giants Banks DIH Limited is one of the sponsors on board with a few others expected to confirm the involvement shortly.
Businessman Ramesh Sunich of the Trophy Stall in Bourda Market as usual is on board with sponsorship for the individual prizes. Those will include the champion jockey and champion trainer and champion stable trophies among others.
