Reading a budget is hard wuk. It does mek an ordinary man become an elephant and that is wha happen to Dr Ashni on Monday. De man drink 20 glass of water in three hours. And dem boys wonder how come he didn’t stop reading and run out de place to de rooms fuh de boys.
One man claim that he watch Ashni and he know when de man would try fuh hide some harsh fact like how rice do bad and how sugar collapsing. As soon as he come to bad news he drink water and if is two bad news in a row he drink water quick, quick.
But dem boys see another thing. De people who suppose to support de budget sleep like if dem deh home. Bibi Shadow slump down in de chair. Dem boys seh that she did done decide that she woulda sleep because she wear she nightgown.
Peck sleep, Carberry sleep and even some reporters sleep. De Speaker tek couple nod and dem workers from de Ministry of Finance had to sleep wid one eye open.
When Ashni done if you see how fast de Parliament chamber empty. Was one big commotion by de toilet because everybody want to go in at de same time. Even Ashni try fuh mek a dash but de others had fuss jump.
Long time people use to stand up outside parliament to hear de budget. Dem, boys seh that in dem days de budget had something fuh de people. Now de budget ain’t got nutten, not even fuh people. That is wha dem boys seh.
Imagine vendors use to raise dem price before de budget; car fare use to go up, landlords use to raise dem rent, and things like that. Now-a-days nobody does bother to change nutten.
De budget is a speech about some of de things that happen last year. Is a history book and dem boys hate history.
Talk half. Lef half.
