Dear Editor,
It’s very embarrassing when you tell others that you can listen to hundreds of radio stations around the world on the internet but cannot access your very own local station in Guyana.
I would’ve thought that the National Communications Network (NCN) would’ve sorted out the problems which are preventing a smooth 24 hours broadcast of their 98.1 FM and VOG on the internet at their website. But they have not since almost everyday there are problems accessing the radio station on the internet. For the past three days, the service has been down. At other times, the audio is so poor, that there is interference from other frequencies.
In an exchange with IT Officer at NCN, Gershom Bacchus, he stated that GT&T “keeps changing their IP (internet protocol) addresses” ever so often and hence the radio broadcasts suffer whenever this takes place. This is really an unfortunate situation as it stands. I hope the guilty entity gets it right sometime soon.
