A Land of Canaan man sustained injuries and is at the Diamond Diagnostic Centre after he was hit by police car, PJJ 7790, in front of Two Brothers gas station at Land of Canaan.
The man, whose name was given as Rawle Hutson, of Land of Canaan Gardens, was hurled high into the air.
According to one resident, the police vehicle was driving very fast and slammed into garbage bins on the parapet of people’s residences after hitting the cyclist.
Another resident said that they noticed the policeman using his cell phone just before the cyclist was hit as he was standing in front of the gas station when it happened.
The man added the skid marks on the road stretched for about 35 feet and the police vehicle hit the cyclist while he was in the corner of the road, which caused the man to flip in the air twice before landing.
