Fazleem Mohamed hit a brilliant 88 but his efforts were rendered useless as the Max Masters XI defeated his team, Savage XI, by 37 runs when play in the 4R Masters’ Cup and Females Softball Cricket tournament continued over the past weekend.
Max Masters XI won the toss and batted first, amassing 200-7 in 25 overs. Danny Mohanram lashed an unbeaten half century (59), with support from Rudy Rodrigues (40). In reply Savage XI were limited to 163-8 in 25 overs after Ryan Singh took 2-25 from 5 overs.
At the Uitvlugt Ground, WCD, Parika/ Hydronie Seniors gained a walkover from Uitvlugt Masters while on the Linden Zone, Female Category, Ituni Village Warriors defeated Blue Berry Hill United by 54 runs.
Ituni Village Warriors batted first and scored 113 – 5 in 15 overs. Arasha Williams (33) was the top scorer. Yonisha Rogers then bowled a tight spell (6-7 from 2 overs) to restrict Blue Berry Hill United to 59 all out in 9.5 overs.
Ituni Village Warriors 9, playing their second match, defeated Christianburg All Stars by 2 wickets to remain unbeaten in the competition. Christianburg All Stars batted first and scored 103 – 4 in 15 overs with Donetta Milo (56) capturing the batting honours. In reply Ituni Village Warriors made 104-8 in 14 overs. Thelma Sue (31) was the best batter.
Later in the day, Coomacka Blazing Fire defeated West Watooka Angels by 69 runs. The eventual winners, led by a sterling half century knock from Olita Jones (68) scored 133-2 from 15 overs. Iris Blunt (2-10 from 3 overs) then restricted West Watooka Females to 64-4 from 15 overs.
