History will be created tomorrow when the quiet village of Bush Lot Farm on the Corentyne Coast host’s the final of the Demerara Bank second-division 40-overs competition at the Kennard’s Memorial cricket ground.
Clashing for the championship trophy is host team Kennard’s Memorial Cricket Club and No. 71 Cricket Club.
The Berbice Cricket Board, organizers of the competition said the reason for having the championship game played at this venue is primarily to promote the game throughout the Ancient County.
This final is anticipated to be a closely contested affair with both teams boasting strong lineups on paper in both the batting and bowling departments.
The home team would be led by opening batsman Thomas George with support from the hard hitting Rajendra Latcha, Mankarran Singh, Chunilall Mankarran, Amzad Hussain, Farouk Drepaul and Doodnauth Ramnarine.
Pacers Hemraj Mankarran and Somesh Mangroo spearhead the bowling attack which will also include Farook Drepaul, Rajendra Latcha and Karamchand Ramnarine.
No. 71 will rely heavily on the batting skills of skipper Nazim Mohamed, Deoprakash Ramdat, Muniram Vincent, Somdat Singh and Ramnarine Ramoutar to post a defendable total or to chase with success, any total posted by the home team.
The bowling attack will be carried by pacers Kamcharran Roopchand, Balgobin Parser, medium pacer Nazim Mohamed, off spinner Deoprakash Ramdat and leg spinner Navin Vincent.
The winners will be $60, 000 richer while also receiving a trophy with the loser taking home $30, 000 and the man-of-the-final 5,000 and a trophy.
Officials of the Rose Hall Town and Corriverton Branches of Demerara Bank will be on hand to take part in the presentation ceremony.
