The final two matches in the first round of the Stag Beer sponsored East Bank Football Association (EBFA) division-one league will be contested tomorrow afternoon at the Grove Community Centre ground.
Grove Hi Tec, currently lying second in the standings with 16 points will have the opportunity to top the table when they oppose 3rd place Kuru Kururu Warriors who are on 12 points and already assured a their place in the last four in the day’s feature game. Opening play brings together Mocha Champs and Kuru Kuru Lions in a game that will not have a bearing on the final four but both teams will be aiming to end the competition on a high.
The other teams booking their place in the final four are Timehri Panthers who accumulated 17 points from their 7 matches and Yarrowkabra in their debut season with 11 points from their quota of games.
Like the first-round, the second-round will be played on a round-robin format with the team accumulating the most points emerging as the Stag Beer 2009 EBFA champions. Kick off time tomorrow at the Grove ground is 13:00hrs.
In latest play, Kuru Kururu Warriors upstaged Mocha Champs by the odd goal in three. Cordel Johnson in the 8th and Clive Chester in the 17th minute were the players on target for the warriors with Mocha’s consolation coming off the boot of Elton Crandon in the 30th.
Also in winners row were Soesdyke Falcons who tamed Kuru Kuru Lions 4-0. John Crandon blasted all four goals, hitting the network in the 10th, 18th, 27th and 59th minute.
