The South Turkeyen Sports Committee will launch its Masramani programme with a King and Queen Dominoes tournament at Shem’s Hideout, 244 South Vryheid’s Lust Housing Scheme, this Friday, February 5 starting at 19:00hrs.
The tournament would attract players from Better Hope South Sports Club, Vryheid’s Lust, Plaisance and Betterverwagting among other villages. Director of Sports, Neil Kumar has donated the trophies for this event. The following day, February 6, STSC will team up with the Allied Arts Department, Queen’s College to stage a pre-mash athletic fiesta. Schools and athletic clubs from across the country will vie for honours and already several institutions have signaled their intention to participate in the activities slated for the Guyana Defence Force Ground, Camp Ayanghana, Thomaslands.
Some entities that would be participating are, St John’s College, Richard Ishmael Secondary School, President College and North Georgetown Secondary School among others. The athletes would compete for trophies, medals and cash prizes donated by government functionaries as well as business places.
Donors include Prime Minister, Sam Hinds, Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture Dr. Frank Anthony, Mr. Bish Panday of P&P Insurance, Ramesh Sunesh or Trophy Stall, Bourda Market, Attorney-at-Law Basil Williams, Wystan Robertson, Marketing Manager (GT&T), Digicel, Director of Dash Enterprise, Jerome Khan, Mr. Godfrey DaSilva of Go Invest Guyana Ltd and Ken Phillips of Antarctic Maintenance and Repairs Ltd. Competition organizer is Johnny ‘Overseas’ Barnwell.
