Ever so often the members of the Diaspora reach out and assist local sports associations in their quest to improve on the fortunes of those associations.
Yesterday morning, at a press conference hosted by the executive of the GFF to update media operatives of plans for the impending Women’s World Cup qualifiers, UK based Guyanese, Peter Barry, who recently returned to Guyana, has donated several pieces of equipment to the GFF.

Barry pointed out that despite residing on another continent his heart was still in Guyana football.
He said that the gears are meant to bolster the preparations of the women’s team.
He also pledged to continue supporting local football since he feels that the gap between local players and those in the UK is not as wide as many believe and support from the Diaspora may just help to close that gap.
Towards this end he has handed over a package consisting of bibs, nets, cones and footballs. Second Vice president of the GFF, Franklin Wilson thanked Barry graciously for his contribution while dubbing the gesture as timely. “The GFF is grateful for such assistance and looks forward to more of its kind in the future,” said Wilson.
Mr. Klass concurred, saying “Mr. Barry has kicked off the 2010 season with his gift.
