The Kaieteur News fraternity was in mourning last night after their senior pressman Ashim Rafeek died at around 20:00 hrs in a collision with a car at Crane, on the West Coast Demerara public road.
According to reports, Rafeek, of Lot One BB Eccles, East Bank Demerara, was riding his motorcycle east along the West Bank Demerara public road near Crane, when he crashed into a car which was heading in the opposite direction.
He sustained multiple injuries and was pronounced dead on arrival at the West Demerara Regional Hospital.
Rafeek, who is survived by his parents, his wife Annie and four-year-old daughter, Alliyah, has been employed at the Kaieteur News for some seven years.
