‘Hot Track, Grass Track’ set for Sunday
Joe Vieira Park to host mega 2010 Series

The leading Dirt Bike riders in Guyana will be tossed into action again on Sunday when Christopher Small’s INXS Performance host ‘Hot Track, Grass Track’ at the Joe Vieira Park on the West Bank of Demerara.
The event that will be held under the theme ‘This Is How We Ride’ is expected to be a showpiece of the sport locally featuring “the very best in bike stunts and riding’ in a combination of skills and entertainment.

Those riders have just a few days to recover from last Sunday’s Grass Track meet at the Ogle Community Centre ground, but the organisers have given all assurance that they will be ready to race this Sunday.
Speaking to Kaieteur Sport on behalf of INXS Performance yesterday, Hubert Franklin said that all the necessary systems are being implemented to ensure that the event is as successful as they had intended.
“We will have all the best riders coming out from East Coast, Bartica, West Bank and so on,” Franklin confirmed, adding that the event will be the biggest in terms of prize monies on the local Grass Track racing scene.
This newspaper understands that the idea is to esteem riders and give them one of the best platforms to demonstrate their competitiveness and skill. Franklin said he is sure the face of racing will change after Sunday.
“We’re calling this the ‘Big Money’ Grass Track Series. We’re moving away from the regular prices and we are giving Grass Track a different image,” Franklin said, before stating that it is a family oriented event.
According to the INXS representative, the ground will be opened from 10am to be able to accommodate families in a ‘Fun Day’ setting. The meeting was identified as the first in a series of Grass Track contests. Leaders in another Championship Series, Andy Rajkarran and Junior Da Silva will be on show at the INXS event. Da Silva has confirmed that he may challenge for a professional win against Rajkarran Sunday.
The professional prizes are $20,000 for first place, $12,000 for second and $8000 for third place along with trophies. The novices will pocket $12,000 for first place $8000 for second and $6000 for third.
The prizes marked the highest given to local riders in recent history. In addition to the on-track action, the Slingerz Family will be providing enough entertainment to keep patrons in the groove for a thrilling display.
The entrance fees for the venue are $1000 for adults and $500 for children under 12 years old. Digicel, Akbar Auto Sales, Two Brothers Service Station, Pepsi and Stag Beer are among the sponsors of the event.
