– Da Silva, Rajkarran tighten grip on C/ships Series
Junior Da Silva and Andy Rajkarran could not have asked for a better atmosphere at the Mecca of local Grass Track Racing, the Ogle Community Centre Ground, on Sunday as De Ambassadors hosted a successful race meeting.
The two local stars, in the novices and professional categories respectively, dominated their races in a move that tightened their grip on the Championship Race Series that will continue sometime at the end of February.
Hundreds witnessed what was the best competition so far in the third race meeting. The event began in November last year in Essequibo before it continued at Port Mourant before heading to the Mecca of local Grass Track racing.
Da Silva, the junior sensation, stretched his unblemished record while Rajkarran used his experience to outclass his rivals in perfect conditions for racing. The ‘race of the day’ featured the two in a colossal final event Sunday.
Rajkarran jumped ahead from the first lap and Da Silva followed. The duo fought tooth-and-nail in a pulsating ride for bragging rights with the sixteen-year-old Da Silva challenging for the lead twice on the penultimate lap.
However, Rajkarran used his experience to keep the young rider at bay as the two had long separated themselves from the rest of the pack. The cheers and screams of the crowd told its own story of appreciation for the excitement the competition created.
The points standing and the complete results will be made available later.
