Supporters of West Indies cricket are in for an exciting season of action this year and they won’t have to dig deep down into their pockets to see their favourite Windies player on the field.
The West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) has unveiled affordable seat prices in all markets for the Digicel Series 2010 between West Indies and Zimbabwe. The Series will feature a T20 International and five One-Day Internationals from February 28 to March 14. The matches will be at Queen’s Park Oval, Trinidad, the Guyana National Stadium and Arnos Vale Sports Complex in St Vincent.
According to Dr Ernest Hilaire, Chief Executive Officer of the WICB, the move is geared towards taking the game back to the people and ensuring that the passionate supporters can come out and cheer for the “home boys”.
Dr Hilaire said: “Cricket is in the blood of Caribbean people. It is an integral part of who we are and what we do. We want to see fans coming back to West Indies cricket and cheering for their team and feeling the vibes. We have structured the ticket prices so everyone can afford a seat and families and friends can get together and have a good time. We want to urge everyone to go out early, get their tickets, secure their seats and come out and rally ‘round the West Indies when we host the Zimbabweans, in what promises to be a competitive series in preparation for the matches against South Africa in May and June.”
Tickets have been set at:
Digicel T20 International at Queen’s Park Oval (February 28): TT$300, except the Party Stand, which will be unveiled at a later date.
1st and 2nd Digicel ODIs at Guyana National Stadium (March 4 and 6): GUY$1000 for the Northeast Mound, GUY$2000 for the Southeast (Orange) section, and GUY$2500 for the Southwest (Green), and Northwest (Red) sections.
