A former clerk of the General Registrar Office was placed on $100,000 bail on Monday after she appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson to answer a charge of larceny by clerk or servant.
Naleen Ramotar, 23, of 188 Charlotte Street, Georgetown, is accused of stealing two blank birth certificate forms from the General Registrar Office on September 22, 2008 while being employed as a clerk or servant at the Registrar Office.
Ramotar, who was represented by attorney at law Peter Hugh, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Hugh stated that his client is currently a clerk at the Ministry of Local Government. He applied for her to be sent on her own recognizance since she only appeared for such reasons.
Police prosecutor Stephen Telford, who had no objections to bail, said that the forms were recovered from someone to whom the accused allegedly had given them.
The magistrate granted the accused her bail and ordered that she return to court on February 17.
