– Court action filed against woman, magistrate
A court has granted an injunction against a woman and a Berbice magistrate in a property dispute that involved accusations of fraud.
At the centre of the matter, according to court documents, is piece of property said to value $10M at Hampshire, Corentyne, Berbice.
The action was brought by Derick Ackloo, on behalf of the estate of his now deceased mother, Hilda Veronica Ackloo, and names his sister Anita Ackloo and her agent, Chandra Sohan, currently a Berbice Magistrate.
According to an Endorsement of Claim by Derick Ackloo, there should be a declaration that a property at Lot 23B Hampshire all belong to Rudolph Ackloo, Vincent Ackloo, Diana Baksh, Anita Ackloo and the plaintiff.
The claim asked for an order to recall and cancel a certificate of title for the property on grounds that there was fraud involved.
“An injunction restraining the first named, her servants or agents and particularly her agent, the second name defendant (Sohan) from disposing of and/or encumbering and/or transferring the said title to anyone,” it was also claimed.
The plaintiff also asked for an injunction restraining the defendants or their agents from dealing with the said property in a manner inconsistent with the rights of the plaintiff.
Last week, Justice William Ramlal, ordered that Derick Ackloo be appointed Administrator Ad Litem of the estate for the particular “object and purpose of protecting the assets and interest of the estate of the said deceased and instituting and prosecuting an action in the High Court against Anita Ackloo also known as Anita Baird, and Chandra Vijay Sohan.”
