Three youths were yesterday remanded into police custody after they appeared before Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton to answer a joint charge of robbery under arms.
Dwight Black, 17, of 60 D’Urban Street, Lodge; Devon Boucher, 19, 71 Barrack Street, Kingston, and O’Neal Jeffrey, 17, of 72 Charlotte Street, Georgetown were the three youths slapped with the indictable charge.
It is alleged that on Sunday, the three, while armed with a gun, robbed Anita Mearns of one cell phone, a hand bag, three bowls, three pounds of plucked chicken and $130,000 in cash.
The three were all represented by attorney at law, Sasha Roberts, who applied for bail for all her clients. She said that all her clients are denying any knowledge of the incident in question.
Police prosecutor, Joel Ricknauth, objected to bail on the grounds that the addresses of two of the accused differ and that it is alleged that a firearm was used.
He said that shortly after the incident, the three were arrested and the items were recovered. A toy gun was also found. The magistrate then asked the prosecutor, “Was an identification parade done?”. The prosecutor answered in the negative.
Black then stated that the police asked him for all the addresses at which he lived and as such he supplied them with all.
They are expected to return to court today with their relatives.
