Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson yesterday remanded a 14-year-old girl into police custody following a charge of murder.
It is alleged that on December 26, 2009 at Matthew’s Ridge, she murdered Georgina John.
She was unrepresented and was not required to plead to the indictable charge.
Police prosecutor Stephen Telford stated that the incident stemmed from a heated fracas between the two.
He said that the deceased had pushed the accused and after she, the accused, pushed back, grabbed a knife and stabbed John to the chest.
The magistrate then remanded the accused to police and transferred the matter to the Matthew’s Ridge Magistrate’s Court where she is expected to appear on May 4.
