Set to bowl off on February 6
Organisers of the inaugural Guyana Telephone & Telegraph Company (GT&T) 10/10 nationwide knock-out softball cricket competition are now hard at work entering the information received during the registration process into their database.
This process ended on Monday last (February 25) resulting in over 450 teams from across Guyana taking up the challenge to compete for the top prize of one million dollars.
To ensure proper administration of the competition which will be run under the aegis of the Guyana Softball League (GSL) in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture Youth and Sport, teams have been divided up into sixteen (16) zones based on their geographic locations.
Berbice has 5 a similar amount will be in Essequibo while there will be six (6) in Demerara. The respective winner from each zone will advance to the group-of-16 round.
The fixtures will be announced live on television by Monday of the new week as teams anxiously await the outcome of this process.
This tournament which has over 5 million dollars in cash and prizes at stake is being held to foster community involvement in sports and culture and will also coincide with Guyana’s 40th anniversary as a Republic.
