Buggery accused found guilty

-Sentenced to four years

Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton yesterday found 2008 buggery accused, Rudy Morgan, 35, of 457 Hadfield Street, guilty and jailed him for four years.
She described the act as despicable  and said that it was the worst case she has ever dealt with.
The now convicted Morgan was accused of sodomising a now nine-year-old boy who was seven at the time, on August 7, 2008.
Morgan was unrepresented throughout the trial and had pleaded not guilty to the offence.
He had continuously proclaimed that he knew nothing about the incident.
According to the prosecution, on the day in question, the child was playing on Hadfield Street alone when the accused confronted him and took him to his home where the act took place.
A report was made to the police and the man was arrested.
The matter was first heard by the Acting Chief Magistrate on September 8, 2008 and was transferred to court five. Magistrate Octive-Hamilton took the matter, but commenced the trial on April 14, 2009.
